Resumo/Summary:

The third core project is the forth step in the implementation of the EC-financed part of a ten-year endeavour, the Graphene Flagship. It is a successor to the CP-CSA project that constituted the ramp-up phase and the first core project, and builds upon the results obtained in them.

The Graphene Flagship relies upon the concept of value chains: an industrial value chain from materials to components and systems, and an intellectual value chain from fundamental to applied and industrial research. Each consecutive step of the Flagship is associated with a move along the value chains. In comparison with the earlier phases, the thir core project places more emphasis on systems, and includes a larger proportion of industrial partners. Since the annual project funding decreases slightly, the budgets of the more fundamental parts of the flagship have been reduced while those of the applied parts have been increased.
